Vaccinations

Life Maintenance keeps a simple vaccination chart for each person and pet, so you always know what has been given and what is coming up. It is a record you keep, not medical advice, and you decide what to track.

Where to find it

Open any person or pet and look for the Vaccinations section. People show it as a tab; pets show it as a card on the detail page. The chart is tailored to that individual: it only shows vaccines that fit their age and, where relevant, sex or species (a puppy sees the puppy series, an adult sees adult vaccines, a cat sees cat vaccines).

Reading the chart

Each vaccine has a row. Series vaccines (like MMR or the puppy DAP series) show a pill for each dose; recurring ones (like the annual flu shot or a rabies booster) show a single status. The colors tell you where things stand:

Given (green): recorded as done, with the date.
Due (amber): recommended around now.
Overdue (red): past the recommended window and not yet recorded.
Upcoming (muted): recommended later, based on age.

Recording a dose

Tap Record on a vaccine, pick the date it was given (and optionally which dose and who administered it), and save. The status updates immediately. You can remove a recorded dose if you logged it by mistake.

Required vs. recommended vs. optional

Some vaccines carry a badge:

Often required: commonly required for school, travel, or (for pets) by law. This varies by state and jurisdiction, so treat it as a heads-up, not a legal ruling.
Recommended: strongly recommended by major health organizations.

Vaccines with no badge are optional or a personal decision. If you try to stop tracking a required or recommended vaccine, we will ask you to confirm first, so it is a deliberate choice.

Not tracking a vaccine

Do not want a particular vaccine on the chart? Tap Not tracking and it moves into a collapsed "Not tracking" list at the bottom. Nothing is deleted, and you can Track again any time.

Where the recommendations come from

Every vaccine links to its source, so you can check our reasoning: human schedules follow the CDC / ACIP immunization schedules, and pet schedules follow the AAHA (dogs) and AAHA/AAFP (cats) vaccination guidelines. Tap the source link on any vaccine to read the original.
