The family inbox

School emails, team schedules, and paper flyers pile up. The Inbox turns them into events and tasks you confirm with one tap, instead of retyping them. Nothing lands on the calendar until someone in the family says so.

Your family address

  1. Open Settings > Inbox and click Create the inbox address.
  2. Copy the address. It looks like harper-7f3k@in.lifemaintenance.io; the random tail keeps it private.
  3. Forward an email to it from your own address, or set up a forwarding rule in your mail app for messages from the school.

Within a minute or two, everyone in the family gets a notification that a proposal is waiting.

The inbox is part of the Pro and Family plans. Any member of a family can use the same address.

Confirming a proposal

Open the Inbox and click the proposal. You see what the message said, every event and task it holds, and the original attachment when there was one.

  • Uncheck anything you do not want. A row that already matches an event on your calendar starts unchecked and says why.
  • Click Add to calendar. The checked rows are created under your account, and the proposal is marked as handled.
  • Click Decline to clear it without adding anything.

A proposal keeps the attachment it came with, so the event can open the flyer later.

A lunch menu becomes one line a day

A cafeteria menu is the one school document that does not become calendar entries. Twenty entries a month would bury the things you actually have to plan around, so a menu is saved as one line per school day instead, and each child sees their own day on the wall tablet: Lunch · Chicken nuggets, green beans, peaches.

The menu attaches to the school, read off the top or bottom of the page, so two children at the same school share one menu and you confirm it once. For a child to see it, the school on their record has to match the name on the document. Set it on the child's page under School; if nothing shows after you confirm a menu, that is almost always why.

Re-reading a corrected menu for the same school and the same days overwrites the old lines rather than doubling them, so forwarding an updated PDF is safe. Saving a menu is an owner or admin action, like the other household-wide settings.

Approved senders

Mail you forward yourself is always read. Mail sent straight from a school, a league, or a service such as ParentSquare is read only when its sender is on your approved list. Anything else waits in the Inbox as waiting for your OK: open it, and choose Approve sender and read it or Discard. Approving a sender once covers every later email from that address.

Add senders ahead of time under Settings > Inbox: a full address, or a domain such as parentsquare.com for every address at that domain.

Photographing a flyer on the wall Dashboard

On the Dashboard, tap + and choose Photo of a flyer. Hold the paper flat, fill the frame, and send it. The photo becomes the same kind of proposal an email does, ready for someone to confirm on the Inbox.

Changing the address

If the address gets out (a shared screenshot, a mailing list), the member who created it can choose Change address in Settings. Mail to the old address stops arriving; update any forwarding rule you set up. For 90 days, anything that still reaches the old address is listed on your Inbox under Sent to an old address, with the current address to give the sender. Nothing on it is read.

Privacy

The message and its attachments are read by the same AI provider as the assistant, and kept as a proposal until a family member confirms or declines it. See the Privacy Policy for the details.
